We have found Japanese beds pretty uncomfortable in the main - always very very hard. These were not too bad...a little bit soft. The air con and heating was good and the room was reasonably spacious. The bathroom had the best lighting of anywhere we stayed ion ur Japanese trip. The laundry was fantastic - you could set a code on there machine so you could be sure that your items were safe. We had tried using the provided app for recommendations but when we got to recommended places - they were closed. Sp the next day we asked the staff for specific recommendations and for reservations and their suggestions were fabulous!

Ivy Square is a charming converted mill right near the popular tourist destinations in Kurashiki. You can literally walk out of the rear of the hotel and be shopping in the historic picturesque district. So great location. The hotel grounds are interesting with a beautiful courtyard with koi ponds and small side street lined with sakura trees. There is a good restaurant inside of the hotel with affordable Japanese cuisine. There is also a public bath just for guests of the hotel. The staff was kind enough to store my luggage before checkin and gave a claim ticket to keep things straight.

All staff in the restaurant especially in the receiption (one handsome man I forget his name who is a mixed foreigners ) are very helpful and nice and good english speaking! There is some misunderstanding cause by the booking.com system he solve it out in a minutes ! Room is small but tidy , jazzuci a bit small due to many customer using in the same time. Very convenient to the main street and very big parking space on the opposite side of the hotel! Breakfast is very good, verity of choice and the fresh tofu I love so much, refill very fast, must try!

Lovely setting very welcoming helpful staff to our party of 6 on arrival and departure. Rooms were clean and comfortable and quiet with toiletries supplied. Lovely shops around with nice selection of gifts to buy. Historic building well preserved . Restaurant available but we didn't eat in the Ivy. Taxis were ordered for leaving no problem and the staff took our cases out and to them . Great option as a stay out from the typical big cities of Japan.

Great hotel in a historic building right in the center of the historic neighborhood. Just steps from the canals, and all the shops and restaurants and museums and views that come along with it. The historic district was very cute and lively, and the hotel was perfectly located for it, and for a base for wandering around the city. The staff were also very professional and polite at all times.
